Andris Buiķis is one of the most sought-after studio recording drummers in Latvia. Has recorded and performed together with Latvian musicians and bands, as well as international solo musicians and bands. In 2013 received a Grand Prix for the best jazz album, «The Meatball Evening», at the Iceland Annual Music award. In 2011 received a Grand Prix in the international «Keep An Eye» contest together with Daniel Mester quartet. In 2008 received a Grand Prix in the international «Riga Jazz Stage» contest as a jazz drummer. In 2007 received 2nd place in the drummer’s competition during the «Saulkrasti Jazz» festival. In 2019 Liepāja Music, Art and Design Secondary School ensemble lead by Buiķis has received the 1st prize at the «Ventspils Groove» and «Boldsound» contests.
