Jānis Pelše

Organist Jānis Pelše is a graduate of Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, having obtained a master’s degree from the organ class of Assoc. Prof. Vita Kalnciema. Further knowledge was gained at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre with Prof. Wolfgang Zehrer. Jānis Pelše is the organist and leader of musical life at the Piņķi Evangelical Lutheran Church. He regularly performs as a concert organist at the Riga Cathedral, Liepāja Holy Trinity Lutheran Cathedral, and other churches in Latvia. Pelše is also a member of the Future Folk Orchestra, a musical ensemble playing African, Balkan, Chinese, Irish, French, Melanesian, and other kinds of ethnically inspired music.
