(09.01.1984 )

Singer

Jūlija Zakirova is one of the most original Latvian jazz singers. Jūlija studied vocal art both at the Academy of Contemporary Art (Moscow) and at the jazz department of the Riga Dome Choir School. Then followed SONY JAZZ STAGE with Grand Prix, participation in various jazz festivals - Kaunas Jazz, Pori Jazz, Jazz Kaar, Saulkrasti Jazz and cooperation with such wonderful musicians as Very Cool People, Madars Kalniņš, Māris Briežkalns (Jazz in Latvia 2008, The best of SONY Jazz stage), Jānis Stībelis, Denis Paškevičs (participation in the recording of the "Dāvā sapni"), Intars Busulis, Raimonds Pauls (recording and presentation of the "My Favorite Melody" CD) and many others.

Wanting to expand her musical knowledge, the singer continued her studies at New Park Music School, (Dublin). Wanting to play music and perform concerts in her homeland, Jūlija moved back to Riga and in 2020 graduated from the Jāzeps Vītolas Academy of Music of Latvia, and began her career in pedagogy. At the same time, the artist began to compose more and think more seriously about how to show her original work to the world.

Currently, the singer continues to compose her own original music, as well as to perform and record compositions by other Latvian composers. He is particularly fascinated by the possibility of incorporating and experimenting with elements of fusion, ethnomusic in his original music.
