Krists Saržants

pianist, composer

Krists Saržants is a Latvian crossover and contemporary music composer and pianist. He studied jazz music and composition at the Jāzeps Mediņš Riga Secondary School of Music, continued his jazz piano and composition studies at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, and also studied at the Royal Academy of Music in Aalborg, Denmark. In 2018, he represented the Latvian Academy of Music at the International Association of Schools of Jazz (IASJ) conference, and in 2019 he travelled to the United States to represent the school in Omaha, Nebraska. Saržants currently works at the Jāzeps Mediņš Riga Secondary School of Music as a piano and ensemble teacher, accompanist, and principal bassoon in the school’s symphony orchestra. In 2020, he released his debut album, Then and Now, which was nominated for a “Zelta Mikrofons” Annual Latvian Music Recording Industry Award, and did an opening performance for TEDxRiga at the National Library of Latvia concert hall.
