Mārtiņš Zilberts was born in 1977 in Riga. He studied piano performance with Ilze Juriksone at Emīls Dārziņš Secondary Music School and graduated in 1996. In 2000 he received his Bachelor’s Degree from Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, where he studied with prof. Arnis Zandmanis. In 2002 he completed his postgraduate studies at Chamber Ensemble and Accompaniment Department with prof. Gunta Sproģe and received his Master’s Degree in Music. During studies he participated in several competitions and masterclasses.
Mārtiņš Zilberts is amongst the most active Latvian pianists and accompanists; he participates in many chamber music projects and each year gives a chamber music performance at Latvian National Opera Beletage Hall with prominent chamber musicians. He also performs with leading Latvian National Opera soloists on regular basis and cooperates with major Latvian choirs and conductors. Mārtiņš Zilberts is the founder and the leader of instrumental ensembles Undertango, Brokastis četratā (Breakfast for Four), Gosti.
Currently Mārtiņš Zilberts is a docent of JVLMA Chamber Ensemble and Accompaniment Department and has been working at JVLMA as an accompanist since 1999. Since 2008 he is the Principal Accompanist of the Latvian National Opera.
