Pēteris Vaickovskis holds a master’s degree from Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music majoring in choral conducting under Assoc. Prof. Sigvards Kļava. He has also studied the trombone, organ, and harpsichord. He widened his theoretical and practical knowledge of early music at the Amsterdam University of Arts (Conservatorium van Amsterdam) under professors Jos Vermunt and Jos van Veldhoven. He also expanded his knowledge with Dirk Snelling, Doulce Mémoire, Paul Hillier, Peter Phillips and other Renaissance music specialists. Pēteris Vaickovskis is the founder and artistic director of the early music ensemble Ars Antiqua Riga, as well as a singer in the Latvian Radio Choir, while also performing the duties of assistant artistic director in this choir.
