Sandis Šteinbergs

Member of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra since 1994, now he is the Second Principal of 1st violin’s group. Studied the violin at the E. Darzins Music School with Romans Sne till 1991. That was followed by chamber music studies with Prof. Pohjola and Prof. Fredrikson at the J. Sibelius Music Academy in Helsinki. He learned his bachelor’s degree at the J. Vitols Latvian Academy of Music in 1995. That same year he entered Prof. J. Maleckis’ chamber music master course there. He took masterclasses with Clode Krieer and Victor Liberman at the Luxembourg Music Academy in 1995 and with Ruggiero Ricci at the Berlin Wedding Music School in 1996. He started his concert career in 1991, becoming the Concertmaster of the Riga Chamber Players. From 1993 to 1995 he was the Assistant Concertmaster of the World Youth Symphony Orchestra (Jeunesses Musicales), and has performed with the Gustav Mahler Orchestra in 1997. From 1996 to the present S. Steinbergs is the Concertmaster of the world-famous orchestra KREMERata BALTICA.
