Vineta Līce

Vineta Līce was born on December 12th, 1955 in Riga. She studied at the Riga 5th Secondary School and at the Jāzeps Mediņš College of Music (1963-1970), the Riga 58th Secondary School (1970–1971) and the Emīls Dārziņš College of Music (1971–1974), where she studied composition with Pauls Dambis. She studied at the Latvian State Conservatory (1974–1979) and graduated the composition class of Ādolfs Skulte. She was the methodologist of the music division at the People’s Labour Union Creative Work House (1980–1984), a lecturer at the Daugavpils Education University and the director of the music division at the Daugavpils Theatre (1991–1996), a teacher at the Ogre Children’s School of Music (1983-2010). Her music has been performed in concert as of 1974. Her works have been performed in Germany, Sweden, Italy, Russia, France, the Czech Republic, Finland, the United States, and elsewhere. Her works have received awards from the Latvian Composers’ Union, the Cimze Society, and other creative work competitions. As of 1987, she is a member of the Latvian Composers’ Union.
