"Nāras dziesma" (Mermaid's song)

Mermaid’s Song (1928, originally a solo song with lyrics by the composer) is one of Garūta’s most jovial
compositions, full of spark and playfulness, and unusual compared to the style of other music from her
early period. The refined and nuanced interplay of the instruments as well as certain harmonic colours
bring to mind the chamber music of French impressionists.
