"Rasa (The Dew)

Written by a student at the Liepāja State Gymnasium, the same high school attended by the composer more than twenty years ago, the poem is an examination of the young writer’s given name. What would be simple to most is captured in extraordinary depth: the poet’s name is everything from a 1980s song lyric to “eyes shining from true happiness”. These observations, the gift of attaching deep significance to life’s most mundane details, are modern echoes of Latvia’s treasured folk poetry.
