"Dūkņu sils" (The Haunted Ticket)

Composed in 1916, first publication 1921. Words (first publication 1913) by V.Plūdonis (pseudonym of Vilis Lejnieks, 1874–1904), well known in Latvian literature for his mastery of the ballad and long poem. In this song Vītols continues to develop his choral fantasy ballad (he himself refers to it as mystically tragic), a genre which he began in 1912 with The King and the Mushroom.
