Dream team 1935

True jazz is music that makes us happy when we play it! (Indriķis Veitners)

The film Sapņu komanda 1935 (Dream Team 1935) tells the story of how the Latvian national basketball team won the first European Basketball Championship ever held. In 2013 clarinettist, saxophone player and jazz historian Indriķis Veitners formed a 1930s-style Dixieland jazz lineup to record the soundtrack for the film. The collaboration was successful, and the musicians decided to continue playing together and create a concert programme. While staying true to the traditional Dixieland style, the band offers new, exciting arrangements of well-known jazz themes as well as familiar contemporary pop melodies.

Known by the same name as the film, Sapņu Komanda 1935 has performed at the best Latvian jazz festivals. The group regularly play at public and corporate events as well as at jazz clubs in Riga and other Latvian towns.

Sapņu Komanda 1935 recently finished recording its first album, Sonny Boy, which will be released soon.
