Stanislav Yudin & Asnate Rancane

This duo consists of double bass player Stanislav Yudin (Staņislavs Judins) and singer Asnate  Rancāne, who are also joined by piano, drum and violin. The musical union arose from the idea of  bringing together very different musical experiences. Their music combines contemporary  improvisation and composition with ethnic music. Yudin’s performance is melodic, emotionally  open and impressively illustrative. It is further inspired by Rancāne’s knowledge of and innate feel  for ethnic music. Together, the two musicians create a musical world of their own that appeals to  the listener who enjoys dreaming. Their original music with folk lyrics is supplemented by  arrangements of traditional Latvian, Bulgarian, Ukrainian, Lithuanian and Russian songs.
