From October 7 follow the activities of the Jāzeps Vītols 8th International Pianist Competition.
The 1st and 2nd rounds will take place at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, while the 3rd round will take place in the concert hall "Lielais Dzintars" in Liepāja, where the best young pianists will play the competition program together with the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor Atvars Lakstīgala. Jāzeps Vītols International Piano Competition is the most ambitious event in Latvian piano art, and it has become an important part of Latvian musical life.
Among the laureates and diploma students of the competition were such well-known and now popular pianists as Juris Žvikovs, Sanita Šablovska, Jānis Zilbers, Toms Ostrovskis, Raimonds Petrauskis, Elīna Bērtiņa, Andrejs Osokins, Arta Arnicāne, Antonina Suhanova and Iļja Domņins.
