Latvia eases COVID-19 restrictions for culture events

13. May, 2020

Previously all public events had been canceled as government imposed strict limitations on public gathering - no more than 2 people, 2 meters apart.

From May 12 this number has been raised to 25 allowing small public events to take place. The Ministry of Culture of Latvia has developed sanitary guidelines for production companies, libraries and museums setting strict standards how the events and gathering of people are allowed to take place. These regulations limit the number of attendees to 25, regulates limitations such as minimum required space, disinfection and ventilation, provisions for gathering contact information of the attendees and other limitations.

Though mass concerts for large choirs, symphony orchestras and opera productions still are not allowed, studio recordings, rehearsals and chamber music concerts will start to take place as Latvia gradually emerges from a COVID-19 crisis.
