Latvian National Symphony Orchestra opens season 20/21

25. September, 2020

Latvia's largest orchestra opens its regular concert season featuring a rising piano star Daumants Liepiņš and a world premiere performance of Longing. Flashing. Bonding by Linda Leimane.
The Pianist magazine lists Daumants Liepiņš among four young pianists to look out for in 2020. One such opportunity will be the LNSO season opening concert, where you will see Liepiņš deliver a brilliant interpretation of Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2, a work of untamed temperament, one of the most virtuosic piano concertos in the history of music. You will also hear Scriabin’s exciting, suggestive Symphony No. 2, composed of wistful mysticism and ecstatic beauty. Tonight’s surprise is a new work by Linda Leimane, the LNSO’s mysterious, intriguing composer at residence whose talent lies in her finesse not unlike the French.

Programme:
· Linda LEIMANE Longing. Flashing. Bonding (premiere)
· Sergei PROKOFIEV Piano Concerto No. 2
· Alexander SCRIABIN Symphony No. 2

Conductor - Andris Poga
