Latvian Radio Choir on tour in Japan

6. June, 2019

Don’t miss fabulous performances by LRK in some of the best concert halls of Tokyo, Yokohama, Tso and Mazumoto!

Latvian Radio Choir and it’s Chief Conductor and Artistic Director Sigvards Kļava have returned to Japan for the second time thanks to their collaboration with M. Hirisa Artist Management. The main focus of the tour is repertoire by Latvian composers – Pēteris Vasks, Ēriks Ešenvalds, Juris Karlsons and Santa Ratniece, but choral compositions by other Nordic, Baltic and Western composers are featured in three different concert programs.

“It is not only a great pleasure but also a great responsibility to return to Japan. We are not only welcome here, great things are also expected of us. There are quite a few choirs and conductors here in Japan that look upon our style of choral singing, our unique musicianship, sense of the ensemble among other thigs as an example to develop their own fundamental basis of choral singing. It is a  double responsibility – not only to perform at the highest possibe level but also lead by an impressive example of Latvian choral singing  - a rich tradition that we can be so proud of. “  - Sigvards Kļava
