The Latvian National Symphony Orchestra (LNSO) and the Sinfonietta Rīga chamber orchestra are concluding the 2020/2021 season with online concerts available not only in Latvia but to international audiences as well.

On Saturday, May 22, at 19:00 o’clock, the Sinfonietta Rīga chamber orchestra will conclude its 15th anniversary season with an online concert from the Great Guild in Riga. Under the baton of conductor Normunds Šnē, the orchestra will perform the “Dumbarton Oaks” concerto by the insatiable explorer and innovator Igor Stravinsky and the Symphony No. 2 by the master of Romantic music Robert Schumann. Together with percussionist Guntars Freibergs, the orchestra will present the world premiere of Jānis Petraškevičs’ “Echoing Distances” concerto for percussion and 34 instruments. Gunda Vaivode, the director of Latvian Radio 3 “Klasika”, will host the concert.

The live broadcast is free of charge and can be viewed on the chamber orchestra’s website www.sinfoniettariga.lv, the VSIA “Latvijas Koncerti” website www.latvijaskoncerti.lv and also on the Sinfonietta Rīga and “Latvijas Koncerti” Facebook pages.

The first concert highlights Lithuanian maestro Modestas Pitrenas and Reinis Zariņš. Elīna Bērtiņa performs together with Andris Poga in his final concert as the artistic director of the LNSO. And the final concert brings together on stage pianist Georgijs Osokins and the legendary Vladimir Fedoseyev.
