On February 10 and 11 Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music will host the masterclasses "Film music and the success of Swedish music exports" with guest lecturers are professionals from Sweden.
About masterclasses
In these masterclasses you will have the opportunity to learn how Sweden became the world's third largest music exporter, many well-known music producers came directly from Sweden. We will discuss what makes a successful music producer and what skills are needed for producers and music production lecturers – psychology and management, music, technology, ethics, law, copyright, business and culture in time.
On February 10 the following topics will be discussed in more detail: the succes of Swedish music exports; Music production with modern technological means (challenge for standard education); Examples of film music success stories. The topic of the February 11th master class – Creating/producing music for a 30-second commercial or film episode, on this day you will also have the opportunity to ask one-on-one any question you are interested in about the topics discussed in the masterclasses.
Guest speakers and hosts of masterclasses
The guest speakers of the masterclasses are lecturers at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. Professor Jan-Olaf Gullö focuses on research in the field of music production, his professional experience is also related to playing the double bass, producing music recordings and television projects. Johan Ramström is an experienced Swedish film composer who has received several film industry awards in Sweden.
Hosts of masterclasses – composer, producer, percussionist, JVLMA lecturer and project manager of these masterclasses Rihards Zaļupe, musician, composer and producer Jānis Šipkēvics (Shipsea) and Kristīne Botros, Latvian musician, producer and master of visual arts living in Sweden.
