Merry drama for adults. Premiere of Gioachino Rossini’s opera “La Cenerentola”

Latvian National Opera invites to the premiere of Gioachino Rossini’s opera La Cenerentola on November 28, 2021. The well-known Cinderella tale has been transformed into a merry drama for adults. Barbe & Doucet, the creative team of the production, has transferred the story to the 1930s New York cabaret atmosphere. This is the first production of La Cenerentola at the Latvian National Opera.

The music director and conductor of the production is Péter Halász. The premiere and performances in December will be conducted by Andris Veismanis. The lighting design is created by Oskars Pauliņš.

The title role in the production will be interpreted by the Hungarian mezzo-soprano Dorottya Láng. In other roles: Pablo Martinez or Mihails Čuļpajevs (Prince Don Ramiro), Krišjānis Norvelis or Pavlo Balakin (Don Magnifico), Kalvis Kalniņš or Rinalds Kandalincevs (Dandini), Jūlija Vasiļjeva or Inga Šļubovska-Kancēviča (Clorinda), Laura Grecka or Althea Troisi (Tisbe) and Rihards Mačanovskis or Juris Ādamsons (Alidoro). The cast is supported by dancers of the Latvian National Ballet, male group of the Latvian National Opera chorus and Latvian National Opera orchestra.
