SKANi releases Latvian Radio Archive recordings as digital albums

Celebrating 25th anniversary of the only Latvian classical radio station Latvijas Radio 3 “Klasika”, LMIC’s SKANi label announces a new series dedicated to Latvian Radio archive recordings. Total of 25 new digital albums will be released (streaming and download only), each dedicated to one Latvian composer. 

Albums will feature previously unavailable archive recordings by legendary Latvian performers such as Jānis Zābers, Kārlis Zariņš, Māris and Inta Villerušs, Vilma Cīrule, Jautrīte Putniņa and many others. Many of the soundtracks were stored in analog reel format and have been remastered for the digital format for the first time.  

Spanning from 1963 to 2018, the 25 albums feature works by Latvian composers Pēteris Barisons, Volfgangs Dārziņš, Rihards Dubra, Andris Dzenītis, Maija Einfelde, Ēriks Ešenvalds, Artūrs Grīnups, Jānis Ivanovs, Alfrēds Kalniņš, Romualds Kalsons, Juris Karlsons, Tālivaldis Ķeniņš, Jānis Ķepītis, Jānis Mediņš, Jāzeps Mediņš, Selga Mence, Imants Mežaraups, Georgs Pelēcis, Pēteris Plakidis, Gundaris Pone, Vilnis Šmīdbergs, Pēteris Vasks, Mārtiņš Viļums, Marģeris Zariņš and Imants Zemzaris.
