Tālivaldis Ķeniņš is not only a composer but also an embodier of the Latvian spirit and soul. In the music he composed during his many years living in exile, one can truly hear his heart and soul, which were deeply rooted in Latvia yet at the same time possessed a global breadth and a unique creative signature. It is the same with our maestro Gidon Kremer, who, having been born in Latvia, nevertheless embodies the spirit of the world in every step of his work. It is no coincidence that these two artists have come together on this album!
