Grēcīgi Partizāni - "Ļaunums"

The frontman of Grēcīgie Partizāni (Sinful Partisans) is Pūķis - Latvian folk-punk artist who combines elements of traditional folk music with the energy and attitude of punk music. His music is witty and provocative, often touching on social and political issues with irony and acerbity. Pūķis is known for his distinctly authentic sound, which reflects the unusual combination of traditional instruments and the punk style. In addition to original compositions, Pūķis’ latest solo album (2020) also features his version of two soldiers’ songs, “Trīnīte” (Little Trina) and “Bunkurs 13” (Bunker No. 13). Grēcīgie Partizāni started by adding powerful instrumental accompaniments to his musical ideas and is now an independent entity. The band consists of four musicians, who complement Pūķis' guitar with a washboard, fiddle and banjo. The first album of Grēcīgie Partizāni is called “Crime and Pride” (2021).

“Ēnas trokšņo” (Shadows making noise) is Grēcīgie Partizāni second album where the band continues their experiments with the folk-punk sound. The album contains thirteen songs that bring together folk motifs, harsh lyrics and punk energy. Amongst them are titles as “Daugava”, “Devil of the Bog”, “Killer of the dreams”.  The song “Ļaunums” (Evil) tells a story about choices that we all have to make, particularly personal freedom - the most important of choices to make.
