Ogas - "Pati māte savu dēlu"

Ogas is a Latvian ethno-music group that combines the richness of traditional folk music with a modern sound. The group consists of talented musicians who play a variety of acoustic instruments, including the kokle, violin, mandolin, wooden flutes, accordion, bagpipes and Jew’s harp. In their programmes, Ogas play traditional folk songs and popular songs of the early 20th century as well as original music based on folk lyrics. The rhythms of the bass and percussion instruments complement the group’s sound, creating a lively and multilayered music that appeals to a wide audience.

Ogas worked on their studio album Laikarati from 2021 to 2023. The album features seasonal melodies reflecting Latvian folk traditions and the connection with the cycles of nature, and it is distinguished by its carefully crafted arrangements combining ancient melodies with modern musical elements to create a harmonious and rich sound. The album is a musical journey through the seasons, a reminder of ancestral wisdom and the rhythms of life. Alongside the album, Ogas have also released the single “Pati māte savu dēlu” (The mother raised her son).
