Very Cool People & Paula Saija - "Rikšiem"

Very Cool People is a band whose instrumentation and performers claim that jazz-fusion and energy in concerts screams – funk and free. The band has been actively touring since 2007, playing a lot of high quality, interesting and danceable instrumental music, and have also created popular concert programmes with the best Latvian singers, released several albums which have been awarded with Latvian Music Record of the Year awards in jazz music and other categories. 

In recent years the group has also become increasingly fond of ethnic music, including Balkan and klezmer elements, with a number of compositions including Latvian folk song arrangements.

The song "Rikšiem" fuses elements of 1990s electronic music, jazz, and folk songs - the singing parts are performed by the young and talented singer Paula Saija, and the rapping performed by VCP's trombonist Laura who has now become known in the group as MC Teicēja. Both girls are the main characters on the song's eclectic video.
